Formentera

Formentera

Formentera, the smallest of the Baleares and as yet spared from mass tourism,
is well-known to elder insiders as the first hippie resort on the mediterranean.
It attracts a colourful mix of people who long for the flair of the seventies out of nostalgia or plain curiosity.
These are the creatively activeor pleasure seekers, and has included those closely linked to the music of Pink Floyd, King Crimson or Chris Rea.

Since 1988 the island has gained a more poetic feature, namely that original and unique project,
famous amongst readers of the specialist music press, a school for making electric guitars: Formentera Guitars.

The timetable of the courses, three and a half hours in the morning and the same again in the early evening is well adapted to the Spanish siesta, leaving plenty of time to enjoy a holiday on this beautiful island with possibilities for diving, windsurfing, sailing, horse-riding, tennis and more.
With its 82 km2 Formentera has a lot to offer. The most beautiful, clean beaches and crystal clear water just invite the diver, swimmer and snorkler. The beautiful landscape includes impressive cliffs, small forests and tiny coves all around the island and can be explored by bicycle.
The clear nights offer an overwhelming view into the starry sky.

A Hippie-market takes place twice a week and features the work of numerous artists, performing leatherworks, jewelery, paintings and many other crafts as well as live music and sessions .
The centers of evening entertainment, such as the „wall of philosophers“ at the „Fonda Pepe“ pub, just across the road from
„Hostal Pepe“, are supplemented by many other gathering places, like bars, restaurants and discotheques.
